In April of 1887, Albert and Augusta left for America, first trekking across northern Germany to the port of Bremen, boarding the ship S.S. Weser of the North German Lloyd company, first stopping in Southampton, England, then proceeding to Manhattan, New York City, where they disembarked at Castle Garden, the immigration center which predated Ellis Island.
Albert died in 1932, two days before his 75ᵗʰ birthday.
