Henry E. Durtsche passed away suddenly Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his home, 335 South Market Street, soon after partaking of the noonday meal. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Volk funeral home, with Rev. Herbert S. Garnes, Jr., officiating. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
Mr. Durtsche was born in Galion on August 23, 1879, the son of Jacob and Katherine (Baldinger) Durtsche. He was united in marriage to Caroline Farber, who passed away in 1938. Surviving are three stepchildren, Mrs. Carrie Dougherty and Harry Farber, of Galion, Mrs. Laura Lemon, of Elyria; seven sisters, Mrs. Dayton Wintermute, Mrs. C. A. Bercaw, Mrs. Carl Hocker and Miss Bertha Dursche, of this city, Mrs. Catherine Dice, Caledonia, Mrs. Anna Geddis, Wilmington, Mrs. Edith Grice, McKeesport, Pa., and one brother, Walter Durtsche, of Harvey, North Dakota. Two brothers are deceased.
Mr. Durtsche was a member of the First Lutheran church. He belonged to several branches of Masonry, being a member of Galion Lodge 414, F. and A. M., Galion Chapter 142, R. A. M., Gwynn Council No. 83, R. and S. M., Bucyrus, and Scottish Rite at Columbus, and Galion F. O. E. He was employed as chief inspector by Erie Railroad Co., retiring 10 years ago.
