William Limes (1814-1892) and Amanda (Rayburn) Limes were the parents of Milton Limes, who was born June 20, 1841 in West Liberty, Logan County, Ohio. He was their eldest child.

Harmon Limes Jr. and Mary (McKee) Limes were Milton's paternal grandparents. William, his father, was their eldest son.

Milton Limes is shown in the 1860 Ohio Census living with his parents at West Ridgeway, Hale Township, Hardin County, Ohio. His brothers, Harmon age 16 and John age 12, were also living at home.

On October 10, 1861, Milton Limes married Margaret Ann Watson. She died at Ridgeway, Logan County, Ohio on June 15, 1902, per his military pension records - (tombstone reads: June 16, 1903 for her date of death, however).

Private Milton Limes enrolled in the 128th Regiment OVI, Company "H" at Bellefontaine, Logan County, Ohio on December 23, 1863. He also spent 13 months in the 4th Regiment OVI, Company "H". The 128th Regiment was principally engaged in guarding rebel prisoners at Johnson's Island. He was mustered out at Camp Chase on July 13, 1865.

On page 328 of Hardin County, Ohio - A Historical Update with Family Histories - the Ridgeway Section - Milton Limes is mentioned as operating an apiary (beekeeper) in 1910.

Milton and Margaret Limes resided in Logan County, Ohio until April, 1910 when they moved to Bellaire, Antrim County, Michigan.

Milton Limes passed away on December 20, 1929 in Bellaire, Michigan. His occupations included being a farmer, an engineer, and a shoe merchant. He was a life-long Methodist. Milton and Margaret Limes are buried in Hale Cemetery in Hardin County, Ohio.

Milton Limes' brother, John, served in the 180th Regiment OVI, Company "I" during the Civil War.
