Sr. Melita Schlimm, OSF, 90, (Marie) died June 28, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Sr. Melita, whose home parish was St. Theresa, Appleton, served as a teacher/principal in Wisconsin and Ohio. In the Diocese of Green Bay, she served at St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St. Patrick Maple Grove; St. Mary, Algoma; Sacred Heart and Holy Family Academy, Manitowoc; St. Mary, Clarks Mills; Sacred Heart, Oshkosh and Xavier High School, Appleton. She also served as a member of the General Council of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Community and Plant Manager and math teacher at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc.
Sr. Melita is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Leighton Larson, Kimberly; two sisters-in-law, Mary Schlimm, Seymour and Catherine Schlimm, Greenville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Samuel O. Jadin O.Praem, on August 1 in the Holy Family Convent Chapel.

Sister Melita Schlimm, age 90, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian
Charity, died Wednesday morning, June 28, 2006, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
The former Marie Schlimm was born Feb. 12, 1916, in Appleton, daughter of the
late Henry and Helena (Hepfensperber) Schlimm. She entered the Convent in 1931
and professed her vows in 1934. Sister Melita earned a Bachelor of Science
degree and a Master of Arts degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee. Sister
Melita served as a teacher and/or principal at St. Anthony, Oconto Falls, St.
Patrick, Maple Grove, St. Mary, Algoma,, Sacred Heart and Holy Family Academy,
Manitowoc, St. Mary, Clarks Mills, Sacred Heart, Oshkosh, Catholic Memorial,
Waukesha, Xavier High School Appleton, all of Wisconsin; and Rosecrans High
School, Zanesville, Ohio. She also served as a member of the General Council
of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity Community and plant manager and
math teacher at Silver Lake College. In 1996, she retired to Holy Family Convent
and has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center since 2000. She is a member of
the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister and
brother-in-law: Alice and Leighton Larson, Kimberly; and two sisters-in-law:
Mary Schlimm, Seymour, and Catherine Schlimm, Greenville. Nieces, nephews, the
relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006, at Holy
Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.PRaem, with burial at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc,
from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 30, 2006. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
