Sr. Mary Celsus (Amelia) Stebelton, OSF, 97, died August 23, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Sr. Stebelton, a graduate of St. Norbert College, served as school teacher in Wisconsin, Ohio, Nebraska and Michigan. In the Diocese of Green Bay she taught at St. Michael, Whitelaw; St. Mary, Clarks Mills; St. Paul, Wrightstown; Holy Rosary,, Kewaunee and St. Anthony, Neopit. Following her retirement from teaching, Sr. Stelbelton resided at St. Francis Convent in Manitowoc and had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse since 201. She is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister-in-law, Genevieve Stebelton, Lancaster, Ohio; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Samuel D. Jadin O.Praem, on August 27, at Holy Family Convent Chapel.

Sister Mary Celsus Stebelton, age 97, a member of the Franciscan Sisters
of Christian Charity, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 23, 2005, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Amelia Stebelton was born Oct. 31, 1907 in Lancaster, Ohio,
daughter of the late John and Mary Guisinger, Stebelton. She entered the
convent in 1924 and professed her vows in 1927. Sister Mary Celsus
earned a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Nobert College, De Pere.
Sister Mary Celsus served as an elementary teacher at St. Mary,
Rhinelander; St. Michael, Whitelaw; St. Mary, Clarks Mills; St. Paul,
Wrightstown; Holy Rosary, Kewaunee; St. Joseph, Waukesha; St. Anthony,
Neopit, all of Wisconsin; St. Mary, Delaware; St. Nicholas, Zanesville,
both of Ohio; guardian Angels, West Point; Holy Family, Lindsay, both of
Nebraska; and St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich. After her retirement
from the teaching profession, she resided at St. Francis Convent,
Manitowoc, and has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the
Motherhouse since 2001. She is a member of the Franciscan sisters of
Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; and a
sister-in-law: Genevieve Stebelton, Lancaster, Ohio. Nieces, nephews,
other relative and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and frends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, where a prayer
service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
