She died in 1869 after her husband Abraham went on a trip in 1867 around Europe and the Middle East where he befriended Mark Twain. He became the character of the Doctor in Twain's book on the experience Innocents Abroad.

Mrs. Harriett (Hollinshead) Jackson died at the age of 45 years and 2 mo. Jan. 19, 1869 after a lingering illness. She left 4 children. She was born in Stroudsburg, Pa. Nov. 19, 1823.

A. Reeves Jackson made his trip (1867) before his first wife died. He met his future second wife on the trip. He was the doctor Mark Twain put in his book, Innocents Abroad. His 2nd son, Frank William Jackson, was born and died in Monroe County, Pa. (6/18/1858-3/29/1870).

His first son was Stroud Hollinshead Jackson (1/4/1853-1/28/1880) who was born in Monroe County, Pa. and died at Fort Snelling, Mn. and was returned to Monroe County, Pa. for burial.

After his first wife died he moved in May of 1870 with his daughter, Jeanette, and son, Stroud, to Chicago. He continued his relationship with Julia N. and about a year later married her.
