Sister Aimee Schaefer, age 93, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2003, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial at
Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Dolores Schaefer was born November 29, 1909, in Potosi,
Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Barbara Pluemer Schaefer. She
entered the Convent in 1924 and professed her vows in 1927. Sister Aime
earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc,
and a Master of Science Degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska.
Sister Aimee served as a teacher and/or principal at St. John the
Baptist, Plymouth; St. Joseph, Waukesha; St. Mary, Kaukauna; St. Joseph,
Green Bay; St. Joseph, Oneida, Wisconsin; San Roque, Santa Barbara,
California; Guardian Angels, West Point; Holy Family, Lindsay, Nebraska;
and St. John, Wellsburg, West Virginia. She also served as building
coordinator in the Rhinelander Catholic Central School System and
performed various tasks at St. Agnes Convent, Green Bay. Since 2001, she
has been residing at St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. She is a member of
the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity and three
brothers and six sisters-in-law: Victor and Anita Schaefer, Potosi,
Wis.; Paul and Lois Schaefer, Dubuque, Iowa; Aelred and Geneva Schaefer,
Platteville, Wis.; Gen Schaefer, Haines City, Fla.; Eileen Schaefer,
Potosi, Wis.; and Calista Schaefer, Lancaster, Wis. Also surviving are
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
