Sister Dolorose Rentmeesters, age 82, a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity, died Monday, January 31, 2000, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be held at 1030 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2000,
at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy
Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Marguerite Rentmeesters on January 22, 1918, in Green Bay,
Wis., daughter of the late Peter and Sophia Vanden Plas Rentmeesters.
She entered the Convent in 1937 and professed her vows in 1940. Sister
Dolorose earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fontbonne College, St.
Louis, Missouri. Sister Dolorose served as an elementary teacher at St.
Andrew, Manitowoc, St. Theresa, Appleton, Holy Rosary, New Holstein, St.
Joseph, Green Bay, St. John, Menominee, Mich., Sacred Heart, Ayrshire,
Iowa., and as a high school teacher at St. Ambrose, Ironwood, Mich., and
Guernsey Catholic Central, Cambridge, Ohio. She also served as a
librarian at Rosecrans, Zanesville, Ohio and Silver Lake College,
Manitowoc. Since her retirement from active ministry in 1996, she has
been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. Sister
Dolorose is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two
sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alice and Ervin Jauquet, Lauretta
Rentmeesters, Calvin Pigeon, Green Bay, John Hoogland, Florence; three
brothers and three sisters-in-law, Lawrence Rentmeesters, De Pere,
Daniel and Marian Rentmeesters, Indianapolis, Indiana, Donald and
Margaret Rentmeesters, Madsion, Dee Rentmeesters, Green Bay; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2000, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc. A Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
