Mr. Clifton Beard, son of the late Mr. Alfred Everett Beard and Mrs. Catherine Blankenship Beard Nunn, was born July 22, 1937, in Green County and departed this life Saturday, September 6, 1997, at the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was 60 years, one month and 14 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church at the time of his death. Mr. Beard served in the U.S. Navy for six years during the Korean Conflict. He was a former school bus driver and worked at the Green River Lake State Park. He united in marriage to the former Brenda Sue Whitlow June 29, 1984, who survives. Mr. Beard is also survived by three children: Doug, Jason and Genia Leigh Beard, all of Greensburg; his step-grandfather, O.D. Parson, Greensburg; mother-in-law, Nora Whitlow, Greensburg, a special friend, Mason Horton, Greensburg, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services for Mr. Clifton Beard were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 7, at the Bethlehem Cemetery with Revs. William Karnes and Greg Whitlow officiating. Marion County Veterans Honor Guard presented full military honors. Active pallbearers were David Goodie, O.C. Edwards, Rudy Mitchell, Mike Embry, Billy Parson, Johnny Patterson, Bill Karnes and David Davenport. Honorary pallbearers were Lanny Pierce, Ginger Wilcoxson, Robert Meadows, Doug Beard, Dave Eastridge, Ty Corbin, Tim Meadows, Jamie Thompson, Phil Lawhorn, Cheryl Shive, Darrell Davis, Brian Simpson, Derek Witham, Brian Burris, Jason Beard, Mike Price, Jodie Ford and Timmy Jewel
