LINDEN - Carlton L. Bonham, 84, whose family name was given to Bonham Street in Linden many years ago, passed away on May 22 after several months of declining health.

Mr. Bonham was born in the Linden area in 1900, and he attended the old Moore School in Linden. During World War I he received the permission of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Bonham, to enlist in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge he moved to Oakland where he was employed by a paint company for many years. With the outbreak of World War II he enlisted in the U.S. Corp of Army Engineers.

Seventeen years ago, in 1967, he and his wife, Lillian Rose Bonham moved to Stockton where they have resided since that time.

A member of Valley Lodge 135 F&AM of Linden, Mr. Bonham was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, and Karl Ross Post of the American Legion.

Mr. Bonham was the father of the late Carlton L. Bonham Jr, the brother of Bess Miller of Stockton, and the late Maude Jones and Ruth Marvin. Grandchildren surviving Mr. Bonham are Carlene Jurich of San Leandro, Patricia Tucker of Ono (near Redding), Priscilla Bonham of Aptos, Carlton Bonham III of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Gregory Bonham of Palestine, Texas. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
