Christopher Columbus Mitchell was first married to Lillie Hargraves. The 1910 census in Grass Valley listed Chris at age 48, Lillie age 36 born in New Jersey, children Ernest S. (Stanford) Mitchell age 16 born in Washington state, Crissie (Christopher Columbus Mitchell, Jr.) age 9 born in Arizona, and son Marion L. Mitchell age 7. In addition was a farm hand, Joseph Sandow age 23-(he is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Nevada City) Lillie and the children moved to Humboldt County and she remarried to William Brodt.
