Carl L. White Allen, 87, of Freeman died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield after a long illness.
She was born on November 3, 1918 in Raven, Va. to the late Carl Richard White and Mary Reedy White Turner and was the step-daughter of the late Monroe Turner.
She has been a life long member of the Democratic Party and remained active until recent years. She worked as a deputy assessor for the Mercer County assessor's office. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Bramwell Chapter No. 158.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Foest E. Allen; sisters, Elizabeth ‘Tootsie' Talley and Erma Jones; brothers, Carles Monroe Turner, Jr., Bobby Turner and Harmon White.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan Allen Stotts of Freeman; two granddaughters, Vickie Kozar Goins (whom Mrs. Allen raised) and her husband Kelly Goins of Freeman, and Carla Stotts Bradley and her husband Terry Bradley of Portage, Mi. She was blessed with two beautiful great-granddaughers, Ashley Lauren Goins of Freeman and Hailey Gabrielle Bradley of Portage, Mi.; one sister, Dosca Kirk of Bluefield, Va. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Lee Williams officiating the service.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home today, May 14, 2006 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Talley, Dennis Talley, Eddie Kirk, Sammy Jones, Bobby Jones and Jerry Carver. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Goins, Terry Bradley, Rick Baugh, Denver Stoker, and Jerry Jones.
The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Allen family.
