Fred Meade

Mr. Fred W. Meade, age 76, of Raven, Virginia, died Monday, September 13th, 2004 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Castlewood, Virginia and was a son of the late William Ray Meade and Ludie Keith Meade Baker. He was a retired miner with Island Creek Coal Company and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a life long resident of the Raven area and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Rosie Juanita Meade, daughter, Mary McCowan, sister, Agnes Jenkins, and brothers, Emmett Meade, Hubert Meade, Buford Meade; and Gene Baker.

Survivors are:

Two Grandaughters:
Sherrie Phillips and husband, Greg of Abingdon, Virginia
Regina Williams of Dante, Virginia

Three Sisters:
Peggy Carr and husband, Larry of Cedar Bluff, Virginia
Rosie Vance and husband, John of Cedar Bluff, Virginia
Beatrice Neece and husband, Oscar of Trammell, Virginia

Two Brothers:
William Ray Meade and wife, Susie of Mooresville, Indiana
Dave Meade and wife, Pearl of Piqua, Ohio

Son-In-Law, Darrell McCown of Abingdon, Virginia

Three Great Grandchildren:
Chantel Williams, Isiah Phillips, and Amaris Phillips

Funeral services for Mr. Fred W. Meade will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Roger Monk officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Virginia.
