ANDREW JACKSON NICKELL
(1828-1863)
He proudly served with the 114th Ohio Volunteer Infantry (O.V.I.) Company E during the Civil War, the Vicksburg Campaign and part of the Siege of Vicksburg. Andrew died aboard the Federal hospital ship U.S.S. January on June 16, 1863 just eighteen days before Vicksburg's surrender on July 4, 1863. He left behind his wife, Isabel Ramey Nickell and three (soon to be four) young children.
