Mrs. F. Esther Levan, 87, Cogan Station died April 27, 1994 at home. Mrs. Levan was born April 15, 1907 in Newelltown the daughter of John and Hattie Leonard McCracken.

She owned and operated Shepard's Grocery Store in Marsh Hill during the '50s and early'60s and was a member of the Christian Church at Cogan Station and was a former member of the Grover Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons; Harold G. Jr., Chemung, NY, William J., Port Matilda, RR 1 and Robert G. Shepard, Roaring Branch RR 1; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma L. Belawske, Canton RR 2 and Mrs. Lorraine Livermore, Trout Run; a step-son, Norman P. Levan, Jr., Williamsport; three step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Bjalme, Centre Hall, Mrs. Norman Heim, West Lafayette, IN and Mrs. Grace Kinley, Williamsport; three sisters, Mrs. Leah Maroney, Troy, Mrs. Luania Woodward, Canton RR 1 and Mrs. Beatrice Bailey, Canton; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased in 1962 by her first husband, Harold G. Shepard and her second husband, Norman P. Levan in 1990.

The funeral was held April 29 at the Christian Church at Cogan Station with Pastor Harry R. Yoder, her pastor officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Sanders, Williamsport.
