Michael was born May 17, 1927, to Louis and Rose (Thomas) Snider in Fort Yates. He graduated from Fort Yates High School. Michael served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. Thereafter, he graduated from North Dakota State School of Science.
Michael married Marilyn Condon in 1955, and they had six children. His children are grateful for his love, strength, wisdom, and humor. He was a man of great integrity who would do anything for his family. He enjoyed landscaping his yard, working in his garden, shopping at Menards, reading the newspaper, and watching rodeos and baseball. He always had a project.
He served as a Sioux County official from 1950 through 1991. He held several positions including those of register of deeds, county auditor, clerk of district court, and as county treasurer from 1957 through his retirement in 1991. He was the longest-standing member of the Albert Grass American Legion Post #173.
Michael is survived by his children, Jon (Shirley); Joseph; Lori (Brian); Joan (Tim, who was also his best friend); Gary (Vina); and Michelle (David); grandchildren, Kyle, Michael, Tyler, Kelli, Joseph Jr., Kolan, Jennifer, Louis, Thomas, Ryan, Laurie, Brandon, and Larissa; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Pete and Leo Snider; and sisters, Rose Skaaden and Linda Metzger.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Rose; wife, Marilyn; brothers, William, Joe, Jack, and Kenneth; sister, Dorothy; grandchildren, Amanda and Joseph; and great-grandchildren, Baylee and Genesis.
