Frank P. Ice was born September 22, 1854, in Prairie Twp., Henry Co., IN, a son of Andrew J. and Rachel (Clawson) Ice.
Frank remained with his parents until manhood, and received an education in the common schools. In Mt. Summit, he started a grain and lumber trade, shipping principally to Cincinnati, OH. He came to New Castle, Henry Co., IN, in 1880, and formed a partnership with Samuel Winings, the firm of Ice & Winings. They carried a stock of farming implements, grain, seed, etc.
Frank was a candidate for County Clerk, in 1882, in Henry Co., IN. He was a Knight Templar Mason, a member of the Knights of Pythias, and a Democrat, in politics.
In 1883, Frank married Rebecca A., the daughter of Henry and Mary Hernly, of New Castle.
