Commander Ralph A FUOSS, 34, of Altoona PA, was killed when he crashed with his monoplane into Narragansett Bay during a landing approach at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station, RI.

Commander FLOSS was the commanding officer & flight leader of Squadron 17, the U S Navy's first jet-fighter unit.
