Born April 19, 1924 in Morris, he was the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Hockings) Weidner. He was educated in Morris schools, and served in the US Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater, The Philippine Liberation and the Asiatic Theater in Japan.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Rudow) Weidner, who he married Jan. 8, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joliet; his son, John (Patricia) Weidner of Lodge; his daughter, Jean (John T.) Bullington of Cordele, Ga; five grandchildren, Patti (Todd) Tesdal and Matthew (Patience) Varland of Morris, Hesper (Dean) Matzo of Edmunds, Wash. and
Janice and John Rasmussen; one great grandson, Taggert John Tesdal of Morris; six step grandchildren, Nathan of Atlanta, Ga., Laurel (Mark)Shumate of Anniston, Ala. and Jill Bullington of Ellijay, Ga.; two step grandsons, Joshua and Jacob Shumate of Anniston, Ala.; his sister Charlene Noss of Sandwish; and sisters-in-law, Bernadine Wing of Carlinville, Gretchen Johnson and Myrtle Rudow of Morris.
Preceeding him in death were his parents; great granddaughter, Elle Marie Tesdal; his sister-in-law, Wilma Rudow; and five brothers-in-law, Delvin L. Noss, Samuel R. Johnson, John and Ferdinand Rudow and Ralph O. Wing.
He was a driver for Lovel Trucking Company for several years and a truck mechanic for Douglas Equipment in Wilmington and Morris. He was employed with Brown Ford and Grenell Motors as an automobile mechanic. He was later employed with Morris Automotive NAPA Store as a machinist before retiring in 1985. After his retirement, he worked as a mechanic at the Fox River Lanes in Yorkville.
He was a member of Morris American Legion Post 294, John Martin Steele Post 6049 VFW in Morris and Cedardell Golf Club in Plano, IL for over 40 years.
