Patricia "Pat" L. Shields passed away on Oct. 14, 2012 in Ft. Collins, Colo. Pat was born May 21, 1928 in St. Joseph, Mo. Pat was one of six children born to Hollis L. and Nora E. Pile.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Shields, two sons, Rick (Lori) Marriner of Greeley, Colo. and Steve (Linda) Marriner of LaPorte, Colo.; two stepchildren, Brooke Shields and Dan Shields. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Jo Rubeseman of Culver City, Calif., Bette Williams of Oregon, Mo., and Beverly Johnson of Greeley; three grandchildren, Joel Marriner of Greeley, Luke Marriner of Loveland, and Kim Grove of Denver, and one great-grandchild, Kaden Marriner of Loveland.

Preceding Pat in death are her parents; a brother, Hollis Pile, Jr., and a sister Loriane Esch.

Pat was in high school during World War II and worked summers in the shipyards or in the medical dispensary in Williammette, Ore. She was a great American! Following graduation from Oregon High School, she married Richard M. Marriner and the union produced two sons, Rick and Steve Marriner. Richard and Pat were divorced in 1960. Pat moved, with her two sons, to Ft. Collins in 1962. She married John M. Shields in 1969. Pat was a very accomplished woman, and was far ahead of her time in the business world. She became the Vice President of Heath Engineering, a manufacturer of flame cutting equipment, sold worldwide and managed over 250 employees at Heath. After Heath Engineering was sold, she managed 50 condominiums in Santa Fe, New Mexico and commuted to Phoenix, Ariz. for some number of years as co-manager of a manufacturing company. Later, she became the owner/manager of a U.S. Postal Substation in Ft. Collins with her two sons.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, sons, family, and friends in the community. We have lost a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

A memorial service will be held Friday, 10 a.m., at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Pastor John Engle will officiate at the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or Charity of Your Choice, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Ft. Collins, CO 80524. Please send condolences to bohlenderfuneralchapel.com
