George Joseph Antunez, 84, died Dec. 31, 2000, of natural causes at his Bonanza residence.

Mr. Antunez was born June 9, 1916, in Los Angeles to Michael and Mary (Valencia) Antunez. He was also raised there. He was always interested in music and became a self-employed musician in 1934. It continued to be his life-long occupation and hobby. He played the piano. He was a Marine from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He worked as a maintenance engineer for a resort for a few years and for San Luis Obispo County, Calif., for seven years. He often played the piano at rest homes in the San Luis Obispo area. Mr. Antunez lived in numerous locations in California and, in Klamath County, since 1997. He married Hazel Eggleston on Aug. 9, 1966. Among his interests were gardening fruit trees, vegetables and flowers, doing leatherwork, and making knickknacks in his shop.
He was an active member of Knights of Columbus in San Luis Obispo that honored him as Knight of the Month and Knight of the Year. He won those awards so many times, the names of them were changed to "Let George Do It" and "Let George Do It Again." He was also was member of the Musicians Unions in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Antunez of Bonanza; son and daughter-in-law, James and Joy Antunez of Ojai, Calif.; son, Cody Antunez of Bonanza; daughters, Patricia Cooke and Linda Dennis of Oceano, Calif., and Kricket Vacca and Vicki Ferguson of Lompoc, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jim Willitt of Springfield, Mo., and Catherine and Jack Capps of Bonanza; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Bob Garcia of Los Angeles; and sister, Josie Astrada of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by sons, Donald, Carl, and George Antunez Jr., six brothers, three sisters, and grandchildren, Donna Marie Juarez and Raymond.
