Child Actor. The son of an actor, Rolf starred in his first movie at the age of 14 as the main character, Emil, in "Emil and the Detectives." Although this movie has been re-made four times, the original version that Rolf appeared in is considered the best. A couple of years later, he portrayed a member of the Hitler Youth in "S.A.-Mann Brand," a propaganda film for the Nazi party. When World War II began, Rolf joined the military, becoming part of an aircrew in the Luftwaffe. While on a mission to attack shipping vessels off the northeast coast of Ireland, the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor he was a crew member of was shot down and plummeted into the water. He was killed, along with the other five on board. The body of the pilot was the only one recovered.
