Sr. Aquinata Otte, age 89, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity of
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Fiday evening, July 5, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be Rev. Samuel D. Jadin. O. Praem with burial to follow at Holy
Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born April 7, 1913, in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, daughter of the late
Andrew and Anna Simon Otte. Sister Aquinata earned a Bachelor of Arts
Degree from St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wisconsin and a Master of Arts
Degree from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. She entered
the convent in 1931 and professed her vows in 1934. Sister Aquinata
served as an elementary teacher and/or principal at St. Philip, St.
Joseph & St. Bernard, Green Bay, Wisconsin, St. Therese, Appleton,
Wisconsin; St. John, Wellsburg, West Virginia; St. Agnes, Mingo
Junction, Ohio; St. Willobrord, Chicago, Illinois, Catholic Central,
Menominee, Michigan. She also served as a librarian at Holy Name
Catholic Central, Escanaba, Michigan; Bishop Rosecrans High School,
Zanesville, Ohio; Silver Lake College and Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Since 1994, she has been a resident of St. Rita
Health Center at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two
sisters, Dorothy Van De Hey, Kaukauna, Wisconsin and Magdalen Preuss,
Hilbert, Wisconsin; one brother, Elmer Otte, Appleton, Wisconsin. She is
further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc, on Tuesday
evening, July 9, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m., where a prayer service will be
held at 7 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting with funeral arrangements.
