EVERETT MOONEYHAM, 85
"Until recently, Everett Mooneyham, 85, of Bath Township, mowed his five-acre lawn, gardened extensively and canned as many as 300 quarts of vegetables a year.
Mr. Mooneyham, a retired Akron attorney and a former Bath Township trustee, died Monday at Akron General Medical Center after a yearlong illness.
"He was quite a remarkable man" said a friend, Bonnie Burr. "He was very, very intelligent and a very pleasant person...He was very friendly, but in later years he stayed at home and read the Bible."
A 60-year resident of the Akron area and a 32-year resident of Bath, he was losing his hearing and sight. He had lung cancer and refused chemotherapy.
A native of Springfield, Mo., Mr. Mooneyham was admitted to the Ohio Bar Association in 1925 and practiced law until 1978.
Mr. Mooneyham, of West Bath Road, served as a township trustee between April 1960 and September 1962.
He had served earlier on the township zoning board and board of zoning appeals.
He was a former trustee of Bath United Christian Church.
He leaves his sister, Ethel Turner of Rogersville, Mo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Billow funeral home, Fairlawn. A private burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery. There will be no calling hours."
