He was the son of Charlie Davis and Martha William Davis.
He married Mary Clay Wells in 1929.
He worked for Dan River Mills in Danville, VA in the Number 6 Spinning Room.
He was a World War I veteran and served as a Private in the US Army.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons Larry Hutch Davis, Jr, Carson Melton Davis and David Daniel Davis, all of Danville.
He also leaves three sisters Mrs. Flora Dixon of Danville, Mrs. Maggie Dixon of Spray, NC and Mrs. Mary Nance of Norfolk, VA and two brothers Sam Davis and Willis Davis, both of Danville, VA and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at Glenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Burial was in the Davis - Wells family cemetery and later moved to Highland Burial Park in Danville.
