Christian Charity, died Friday morning, April 18, 2003, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Martha Odroneic was born July 22, 1916, in Mingo Junction,
Ohio, daughter of the late Francis and Anna Pekalla Odroneic. She
entered the convent in 1932 and professed her vows in 1935. Sister Rita
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc,and
a Master of Arts degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. Sister
Rita served as a teacher at St. Mary, Brillion; St. John the Baptist,
Plymouth; SS. Peter & Paul, Kiel; St. Therese and St. Thomas More, both
of Appleton; Holy Innocents and St. Joseph, both of Manitowoc; St.
Joseph, Kellnersville; Catholic Memorial, Waukesha; Corpus Christi,
Sturgeon Bay; St. Joseph, Oneida; St. Anthony, Oconto Falls; all of
Wisconsin; Sacred Heart, Ayrshil, Iowa; St. John, Komatke, Ariz.;
Cathedral, Honolulu; and St. Theresa, Kekaha, both of Hawaii; Madonna
High School, Weirton, W. Va.; St. Mary, Delaware; St. Sylvester,
Woodsfield; and St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, both of Ohio. She also served
as a CCD aide at St. Francis, New Philadelphia, Ohio; and performed
various services for the Sisters at San Damiano Convent, Slinger, and
St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. She is a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two
sisters, Anna Wszeborowski, Mingo Junction; and Elizabeth Wszeborowski,
Wintersville, both of Ohio; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent
Odroneic, Mingo Junction; Thomas Odroneic, Steubenville; Betty Odroneic,
Cadiz; and Phyllis Odroneic, Steubenville, all of Ohio. Also surviving
are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 pa.m. Monday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
