Barbara Jean Was born the summer of 1930 to Viverne Carl (1908-1988) & Burla Ada (Carl) Jarstfer (1913-1994). She was the newly couples first child, 3 more would follow over the next 7 years. 2 more girls & a son: Beverly Ann (1931-2006, Betty Lou (1932-) & Charles William (1935-2004). She attended Battle Creek schools. At the age of 15 she met Ray Slagle and shortly after with much insistance was permitted to marry.
