Christian Charity, died Thursday morning, July 19, 2001, at Holy Family
Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2001, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. DePaul Sobotka, OFM, with burial at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Helen Mielke was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Lublin, Wis.,
daughter of the late John and Rose Wettstein Mielke. She entered the
convent in 1929 and professed her vows in 1931. Sister Eulogia earned a
bachelor of science degree from Fontbonne College, St. Louis, Mo. Sister
Eulogia served as a teacher at St. Paul and St. Boniface, Manitowoc;
Sacred Heart, Oshkosh; St. Patrick, Maple Grove; St. Francis,
Hollandstown; St. Joseph, Kellnersvile; St. Andrew, Potosi; Guardian
Angels Boarding School, Oneida, St. Benedict, Cambridge, Ohio; and
Sacred Heart, Ayrshire, Iowa. She also served as a dietician for
Manitowoc County Nutrition Program for the Elderly, Good Samaritan
Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio; Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb.; Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc; secretary at Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida;
St. Joseph Academy, Green Bay; Health Regional House, Milwaukee; and
worker for social concerns in the Manitowoc area. Since 1991, she has
been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a
member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister,
Sister Rose Clare Mielke, OSF, Manitowoc; a brother, Harold Mielke, Mt.
Prospect, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Julia Mielke, Spring Lake, Mich.;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent from
4 to 8 p.m. Friday (TODAY) where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
