Sister Mary Mercier, 76, of Holy Family Convent, Route 5, Manitowoc, passed away Monday morning at the convent. Sister Mercier was born July 10, 1897 at Garden, Michigan, daughter of the late August and Louise Malleaux Mercier. She entered the order of Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity in 1926, professing her vows in 1929. She served the order as a homemaker at Sacred Heart Parish, Manitowoc, Cooperstown, Sturgeon Bay, Rhinelander, Neopit, Oshkosh, Plymouth; West Point, Lindsay, Nebraska and Menomonee, Michigan and Holy Family Convent, retiring in 1971. She is survived by a brother and five sisters. Funeral rites were held Wednesday at Holy Family Convent chapel and burial was in the convent cemetery.
