Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Patricia McNelis was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Chicago, Ill.,
daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie Schuit McNelis. She entered the
convent in 1936 and professed her vows in 1939. Sister Mary Kathleen
earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Familyy College, Manitowoc,
and a Master of Education from St. Louis University, St. Louis, MO.
Sister Mary Kathleen seved as a teacher at Sacred Heart, Oshkosh; St.
John, Antigo; Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha; Xavier High
School, Appleton, all of Wisconsin; St. John, Marquette; St. Ambrose,
Ironwood; Holy Name, Escanaba; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, all of
Michigan; Rosecrans High School, Zanesville, Ohio; Bishop Amat High
School, LePuene: St. John Vianney, Hacienda Heights, Calif.; Holy
Family, Lindsay, Neb.; and St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii. She also served
as Directress of Aspirants at the Motherhouse; activity aide at St.
Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb.; seamstress at Holy Family
Convent; and performed various tasks at St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna; and
San Damiano Convent, Slinger. Since 1999, she has been residing in St.
Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; and a
sister-in-law: June McNeil, Hartland, Mich. Also surviving are nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005, where a prayer
service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem with burial
at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
