THORNTON, Eleanor Adams, 91, of Midlothian, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edwin C. Thornton Jr.; and a son, Rev. Clay Thornton. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Beery; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Carolyn Thornton, Jim and Kathy Thornton; daughter-in-law, Astra Thornton; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A memorial celebration will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Village View, 221 Briggs St., Emporia, Va., with interment immediately following in Briggs Cemetery, Emporia, Va. The family will receive friends following the interment. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Village View Foundation, 409 Jarratt Ave., Jarratt, Va. 23867.
