Sister Mary Arthur Maus, age 76, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Holy Family Convent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial at Holy Family
Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born Dec. 23, 1924, in Green Bay, daughter of the late Arthur
and Marie Platkowski Maus. She entered the convent in 1945 and professed
her vows in 1947. Sister Mary Arthur earned a bachelor of arts degree
from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister Mary Arthur served as an
elementary teacher at St. Joseph and St. Philip, Green Bay; St. Anthony,
Oconto Falls; St. Therese, Appleton; Holy Innocents, Manitowoc; St.
Joseph, Kelnersvile; St. Anthony, Neopit; St. Mary, Hilbert; St.
Francis, Hollandtown; St. Theresa, Kekaha, Hawaii; St. Francis and
Immaculate Conception, Yuma, Ariz.; Topawa Elementary, Topawa, Ariz.;
and Our Lady of Peace, Ironwood, Mich. She also performed a variety of
services at Pisinemo Religion Center, Sells; St. Catherine, Topawa,
Ariz.; Sacred Heart Retreat Center, Gallup, N.M.; San Damiano Convent,
Holy Family Conservatory, Manitowoc; Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc; and
Holy Redeemer, Two Rivers. Since February 2001, she has been a resident
of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the
Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; four
sisters and two brothers-in-law, Delores Jeanquart, Green Bay, Patricia
Van Donsel, Darlene and Mark Sconzert, Luxemburg, Sharon and Spencer
Linder, Atlanta, Ga.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and
Viola Maus, Evans, Ga., Gary and Sharlene Maus, New Brighton, Min., Glen
and Judy Maus, Green Bay; and a brother-in-law, Leo Diederich, Green
Bay. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends survive.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Diederich and Marlene
Coffey.
Friends may call at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family
Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
