Memorial service for Clarence L. Aubrey, 85, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the First Christian Church of Lawton, with the Rev. Kim Hames, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Aubrey passed away on Monday, October 15th, 2012, at his home.

Private family burial will be at Highland Cemetery.

Clarence L. Aubrey was born on January 15, 1927, in Lawton to Obie Clarence and Geneva "Neva" Asa (Nix) Aubrey. His parents were children of Lawton pioneer families of Walter E. and Margaret Nix and Obadiah and Sybellia Aubrey. Clarence attended Washington Elementary Grade School and Lawton High School, graduating in 1945. He joined the United States Army serving in infantry during the Aleutian Campaign on Attu. Following his service, he attended Cameron Jr. College graduating from the University of Oklahoma in 1950 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Business Administration. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

He returned to Lawton where Clarence married Betty Jo Phillips on June 8, 1951, at the First Christian Church in Lawton. He owned and operated Southwest Coffee Company and Restaurant Supply from 1951 to 1957. He then became a partner in Phillips-Aubrey Chevrolet Company with his father-in-law, W. Dean Phillips. That same year, Clarence attended and graduated from Post Graduate School of Modern Merchandising and Management of Detroit, Michigan. The business later became P-A Chevrolet. He associated with his sons, W. David Aubrey and Todd L. Aubrey and they owned and operated Aubrey Chevrolet. He retired from the business in August of 2001.

Mr. Aubrey was a member and past president of Noon Optimist Club, and member and past president of Lawton Automobile Dealers Association. He was also a member of the Lawton Chamber of Commerce, member of Military Affairs Committee, past member of Chamber of Commerce Board, member of Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association, member of National Automobile Dealers Association, and a member of Chevrolet Dealers Council of Chevrolet Motor Division. He received the Presidents Award as "Dealer of the Year" from Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association in 1991.

He was an elder and deacon and long-time member of the First Christian Church of Lawton. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #129. He served as a director and member of the board of Home Savings and Loan and Fort Sill National Bank.

He was a life-long hunter, bird dog handler and owner, and fisherman. He was an avid OU fan and is being recognized for his over 60 years of being season ticket holder and his support and donations to OU. Mr. Aubrey is being honored at the November 24, 2012 OU/OSU game in Norman. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo (Phillips) Aubrey of the home; his children: William David and his wife, Lora Jo Aubrey, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Lee Ann and her husband, James William McIntyre of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mark Phillips Aubrey of Tucson, Arizona, and daughter-in-law, Theresa Ann Aubrey of Lawton, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren: Jared Dean Aubrey of Dallas, Texas, Renee Loran Aubrey Pollard and her husband, Braden, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Chase William Aubrey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Steven James McIntyre and Lauren Aubrey McIntyre both of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Evan Loren Aubrey and Taylor Ann Aubrey both of Lawton, Oklahoma; a niece, Janna Kay Lee and her husband, Alan, of Wichita Falls, Texas and their family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, W. Dean and Dollie Phillips, his brother and sister-in-law, David James and Lucille Aubrey, and his son, Todd Loren Aubrey.
