Sister Rosaria Manthey, age 77, of the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wis., died Monday June 15, 1992, at the Holy Family Convent.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 1992, at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial to follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Georgia Ann Manthy (sic) was born January 18, 1915 in Antigo, Wis., daughter of the late George and Mary Cherf Manthey. She entered the Convent on August 30, 1932, professing her vows on August 15, 1935. Sister Rosaria earned a B.A. Degree from St. Norbert College, DePere, Wis., a M.A. from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. Sister served as an elementary teacher in Waukesha, Hollandtown, Green Bay and Clintonville, Wis.; Escanaba, Mich.; and Wellston, Ohio. She taught high school students at Waukesha, Wis., Chicago, Ill., Cambridge and Zanesville, Ohio, Petoskey and Ironwood, Mich. She also served as a school teacher at Central Catholic, West Point, Neb. After her retirement from active ministry, she resided at Ozanam Home, New Berlin, Wis., and the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wis.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; one sister, Sister Bernadine Mantey, OSF, West Point, Neb.; two brothers and two (sic) sisters-in-law, Richard and Joyce Manthey, Appleton, Wis., John Mantey, Knoxville, Tenn., Marguerite Manthey, Petaluma, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call at the Holy Family Convent on Thursday, June 18, from 4-8 p.m., where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
