Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2003, at Holy
Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian
Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem with burial at Holy
Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Joan Lakosky was born March 26, 1928, in Milwaukee, daughter
of the late Charles and Lily Roberts Lakosky. She entered the convent in
1944 and professed her vows in 1946. Sister Mary Robert earned a
Bachelor of Science degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister
Mary Robert served as a homemaker at Oconto Falls; Cowlic and Pisinemo,
both in Arizona; and as a teacher at St. Joseph, Kellnersville; St.
Anthony, Neopit; St. Joseph, Oneida; Sacred Heart, Manitowoc; St.
Joseph, Sturgeon Bay; St. Anthony, Oconto Falls; St. Peter Middleton;
all in Wisconsin; Guardian Angels, West Point; Holy Family, Lindsay;
both in Nebraska; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Mich. She also served as
a nurse's aide in St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse and Ozanam
Home, New Berlin, and performed various services at St. Rose,
Clintonville; San Damiano Convent, Slinger; St. Francis Convent,
Manitowoc; all in Wisconsin; Holy Name, Escanaba; and Our Lady of Peace,
Ironwood, both in Michigan. Since January 2002, she has been residing in
St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the
Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; four
brothers and sisters-in-law: Sylvester Lakosky, Tucson, Ariz.; Harold
and Maxine Lakosky, Flushing, Mich.; John and Mille Lakosky, Robert and
Mae Lakosky, Joan Lakosky, all of Manistique, Mich.; and a sister and
brother-in-law: Lilly Anne and Harold Ertel, Racine. Also surviving are
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday where a prayer service will be held
at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
