Sr. John Brebeuf (Rita) LaBreche, OSF, 81, died October 13 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Sr. LaBreche, a graduate of Holy Family College, Manitowoc, served as a teacher in Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and West Virginia. In the Diocese of Green Bay, she taught at St. Paul, Manitowoc; St. Patrick, Maple Grove; St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay and St. Joseph, Green Bay. She also served as the diocesan librarian and as secretary at St. Rose, Clintonville and St. Pius X, Appleton. Following her retirement from active ministry, Sr. LaBreche performed various tasks at St. Philip, Green Bay and Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2001, she had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. Sr. LaBreche is survived by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Maxine LaBreche, LaCrescenta, Cal., and Norbert and Betty LaBreche of Ontario, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem, on October 17, in the Holy Family Convent Chapel.

Sister John Brebeuf La Breche, age 81, a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity, died Thursday morning, Oct. 13, 2005, at
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Rita La Breche was born Jan. 14, 1924, in Marquette, Mich.,
daughter of the late William and Amelia Messier La Breche. Sister John
Brebeuf earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College,
Manitowoc. She entered the convent in 1943 and professed her vows in
1945. Sister John Brebeuf served as a teacher of primary grades at: St.
Paul, Manitowoc, St. Patrick, Maple Grove, St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay, St.
Joseph, Green Bay, SS, Andrew & Thomas, Potosi, all of Wisconsin; St.
Willibrord, Chicago, Ill.; St. Nicholas, Zanesville, Ohio; and St. John,
Wellsburg, W.Va. She also served in the registrar's office at Holy
Family College; Outreach Program in Appleton; librarian for the Green
Bay Diocese; secretary at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point,
Neb.; St. John, Laveen, Ariz.; St. Rose, Clintonville; driver and
secretary for the Northern Regional Center; driver at St. Pius X,
Appleton and Catholic Central, Menominee, Mich.
After retiring from active ministry, she performed various tasks at St.
Philip, Green Bay and Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. Since 2001, she
has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is
a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; two
brothers and sisters-in-law: Donald and Maxine La Breche, LaCrescenta,
Calif.; and Norbert and Betty LaBreche, Ontario, Calif. Also surviving
are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relative and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005 3. A prayer service
will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of
Christian Burial will be the Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O. Praem, with burial
at Holy family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is
assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
