Lance Chilton Butler, age 54, died Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital. Born in Washington, DC on October 9, 1953, he was the son of Gilbert Raynor and Dolores White Butler.

Mr. Butler was a member of Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Mary Queen of Peace Council 9575, and the Southern Thunder Motorcycle Group. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School, class of 1971 and the Florida Institute of Technology where he received his MBA.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Denise Combs Butler; two sons, Neil Butler of Lyman, and Evan Butler of the U.S. Air Force; three daughters, Amy Butler of Inman, Rachel Butler of Steubenville, OH, and Megan Butler of Spartanburg; a brother, Paul Butler of Halifax, VA; and one grandchild, Cortland Isaac Butler.

A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Jesus Our Risen Savior Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. Eugene Leonard, Rev. Michael McCafferty, and Deacon Robert Sturm. A private inurnment will be held at Greenlawn Heritage Mausoleum.
