After her father died in 1883 in the Swinford workhouse, she emigrated with her mother and siblings to Philadelphia.
She was first married in 1898 in Philadelphia to George Graham, a calligrapher, who died in 1905. She married Edgar Carey c. 1906 and had 4 children. She lived in Atlantic City from 1907 to 1963.
