Funeral services for Major. P. Austin, 61, who died Monday at his home, Asheville, R.F.D. No. 1, following a lengthy illness, were conducted yesterday at Elk Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Parham and the Rev. Riley Corn officiating. Interment was in Clark's Chapel Cemetery near Weaverville. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Flora Jones Austin; the step-mother, Mrs. Jane Austin, of French Broad; a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Wright, of Asheville, R.F.D. No. 1; three sons, Norman and Paul Austin of Asheville, R.F.D. No. 1, and Ray Austin, of 124 Courtland avenue; two sisters, Mrs. Lucinda Rice, of Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Indiana Penix, of Asheville, R.F.D. No. 1; two brothers, Tom Austin, of Biltmore estate and Sam Austin, of French Broad, and 1(?) grandchildren.
