Sister Joanette Kozora, age 94, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of
Christian Charity, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, 2001, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial
will be the Rev. DePaul Sobotka, O.F.M., with burial at Holy Family
Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The former Rose Kozora was born Nov. 10, 1906, in Mingo Junction, Ohio,
daughter of the late John and Julia Haydu Kozora. She entered the
convent in 1924 and professed her vows in 1927. Sister Joanette earned a
bachelor of arts degree from St. Norbert College, DePere. Sister
Joanette served as a teacher at St. Joseph, Rice Lake, St. Anthony,
Oconto Falls, St. Mary, Rhinelander, St. Bernard, Green Bay, Xavier High
School, Appleton, all in Wisconsin; St. Anne, Escanaba, St. John,
Menominee, St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, all in Michigan; Guardian
Angels, West Point, and Holy Family, Lindsay, both in Nebraska. She also
served as a librarian at Catholic Memorial High School, Waukesha, Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc, and St. Willibrord, Chicago, Ill. Since her
retirement from active ministry, she has been a resident of St. Rita
Health Center at the Motherhouse. She is a member of the Franciscan
Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivor include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent,
Manitowoc, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. A prayer service will be held at 7
p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pffeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with
funeral arrangements.
