PEARCE, BOYD Mr. Boyd H. Pearce age 82 of Walker, Veteran of U.S. Army went home to be with the Lord on Thursday October 11, 2012. Surviving are his wife of 59 years Mary Lou (LaPonsie), daughter Theresa Pearce, son Boyd J. Pearce, grandson Anthony M. Lis and Anthony's father Edward J. Lis, his brother Sharmon Pearce, brother and sister in law, Jack and Gloria Laponsie Sr., numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents Perry and Rose and ten brothers and sisters. Boyd was a charming, witty man and well known for his ability to deliver a good joke and make everyone laugh. His likeability, honesty and attention to serving others made him a great salesman (Duthler Ford for over 30 years) and a dedicated volunteer at St. Andrews, St. Francis, and St. Anthony's parishes. Boyd grew up in Taylor, AZ, entered the Army in 1948 serving in Germany after WWII. He came to Grand Rapids and met Mary Lou at his brother Stan's wedding in 1953 and they married Feb. 6, 1954. An enthusiastic fan of Tigers baseball, he also enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, ping pong, pool, doing puzzles, and going fishing with family and friends. We would also like to thank all the friends, family, friends and the caretakers who helped us during Boyd's illness. "You are Angels". A Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Service will be Monday 11:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. His family will receive visitors Monday at church one hour prior. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anthony's Education Fund, Alzheimer's Association or charity of one's choice.
