The former Regina Knuever was born January 16, 1920 in Monterey, Neb., daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Ermeis Knuever. She entered the convent in 1938 and professed her vows in 1941. Sister earned a LPN certificate from Sacred Heart School of Practical Nursing, Milwaukee, Wis. Sister Francis Elizabeth served as an elementary school teacher at Rice Lake, Holy Innocents and St. Andrew, Manitowoc, Wis., St. Agnes, Green Bay, Wis. and Zanesville, Ohio. She served as a nurse's aide and an LPN staff nurse at St. Joseph Home, St. Francis Memorial Hospital, West Point, Neb., St. Paul Home, Kaukauna, Wis., Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wis. and San Damiano Convent, Slinger, Wis.
After her retirement from active ministry, she resided at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, Wis. She was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Surviving are the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie and Anton Steffensmeier, Dodge, Neb., Bernadine and Edwin Stech, Osmond, Neb., Rita and Norbert Gubbels, Osmond, Neb.; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Charles and Clara Throener, Dodge, Neb., Marie Throener, Snyden, Neb., and Mary Throener, West Point, Neb. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Friends may call on Monday, September 20, from 4-8 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent. A prayer service will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. The Pfeffer Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
