FINLEY Mr. Ben W. Finley, age 88 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, January 11, 2008, at his home. Ben was born August 25, 1919, in Tipton, Mo., the son of Roy J. and Gertrude Weyland Finley, both deceased. He was married to Emma Faye Bell, who preceded him in death. On October 25, 1956, in Jefferson City, Mo., he was married to Leila Pyles, who preceded him in death on June 3, 1987. On January 28, 1989, he married Frances Klein Rogers, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Ben attended Central Methodist College in Fayette and the University of Missouri at Columbia. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Ben owned and operated Missouri Builders Service for 10 years and Central Dealers Service for 17 years prior to his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; a member of the Jefferson Lodge No. 43, A.F. & A.M.; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5; and a member of the Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. Other survivors include: one son, Stephen Finley and his wife Karen of Jefferson City, Mo.; one step-son, Phillip Rogers of Tucson, Arizona; one step-daughter, Amy Rogers of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Mardell Smith of Wilsonville, Oregon; and four grandchildren, David Finley, Patrick Rogers, Jon Rogers, and Rachel Deal. He was preceded in death by one son, Benjamin W. Finley II in 1952. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend R.W. Beard officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be at the Mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
