A. J. Glaze, 87, of Pelahatchie, Miss., died early Thursday morning at Cross Gate Manor Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Glaze was a native of Smith County but had made his home in Pelahatchie where he has operated A. J. Glaze General Mercantile since 1930. He was a member of the Pelahatchie Baptist Church, a former long-time Sunday School Superintendent, and a former member of the Pelahatchie School Board.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mabel Pickering, one daughter; Mrs. J. L. (Caesar) Ross, Pelahatchie; one son, Dr. A. J. Glaze Jr., Buenos Aires, Argentina, four sisters; Mrs. Rap Moulder, Jackson, Mrs. Tom Anderson, New Hebron, Mrs. Mittie Van Zant, Augusta, Ark., and Miss Minnie Glaze, Pelahatchie, and six grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Pelahatchie Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Maddox, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Pelahatchie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: G. T. Ross, G. K. Tanner, Marion Holmes. T. D. McKay, Lewis Huff, and Arthur Burgess.
