"Libby" Elizabeth Mary McGee Coyle, age 78, was lifted up on eagle's wings to go meet the Lord on August 5th, 2008. She had been a resident of Ocean Springs since 1964 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs.
Libby was born to Mary "Molly" Broadley McGee and Harry Shirl McGee in Beverly, Massachusetts, on July 19th, 1930. Upon graduation from high school she entered nursing school and later joined the U.S. Air Force where she advanced to the rank of 1st Lt. After the birth of her 3 daughters she went back to the nursing profession as a civilian in which most of the rest of her career was spent as an intensive care nurse. Upon retiring from the nursing profession she worked as a volunteer with the Ocean Springs Hospital Auxiliary for approximately 20 years. She was very proud to be a "Pink Lady."
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Molly McGee, father, Harry Shirl McGee, sister, Inez McGee Barrowclough, and her beloved husband USAF Lt. Colonel Robert Coyle with whom she had so many great adventures.
Survivors include her daughter, Claire Cornelius Robinson and grandson, Jonathan Robinson of Ocean Springs; her daughter Carole Cornelius Ziv, husband John, granddaughters Christina, Michelle and Stephanie Dawson and great-granddaughter Siera Jones all of Biloxi, daughter Mary Cornelius Hardy, husband Charles of Ocean Springs and grandson Joshua Hardy of Birmingham, AL. as well as stepsons Geoff Coyle, wife Sandra, step-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Misty and stepson Matt Coyle, wife Vicki, step-grandson Bobby, step-granddaughters Madelyne and April all of Vinton, LA. Also by her beloved nephews and "summer sons" Thomas Barrowclough of Beverly, MA, David Barrowclough of Prescott, AZ and niece Ellen as well as her nephews from Tennessee, Marshall, Shelby and Lance Cornelius along with their loving families and many, many friends.
On Saturday, August 9, 2008, there will be a 10:30 AM Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the Ocean Springs Auxiliary Memorial Fund c/o Ocean Springs Hospital, 3109 Bienville Blvd, Ocean Springs, MS 39564 and to the First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs, 921 Ocean Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564.
