Kenneth Laffoon Sr.

Kenneth Rex Laffoon Sr., 74, of Sheldon, died Friday (June 6, 2008) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (CDT) today at the Gerts Funeral Home, Brook, Ind., where services will be held at 11 a.m. (CDT) Wednesday. The Rev. Ken Marsh will officiate.

Burial will be in Buswell Cemetery, Kentland, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Sheldon EMTs or to the Sheldon American Legion.

Mr. Laffoon was a mechanic for Sheldon Implement until it closed. He was then self-employed. He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Newton County, Ind., the son of James W. and Gertrude E. Henderson Laffoon. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict (1952-1956) and was a member of the Sheldon American Legion. He collected International tractors and enjoyed restoring them.

Surviving are his wife, the former Karen Y. Bee, of Sheldon; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kassandra K. and Jason Smith of Hume, Debora L. and Terry Burton of Sheldon, Michelle L. and Quintin Yallary of Lincoln, Neb.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth R. Laffoon Jr. of Gladstone, Randall G. and Barbara Laffoon of Sheldon; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bernard Laffoon of Raub, Ind., and Larry and Martha Laffoon of Springville, Tenn.
