Husband of Verona Frances Noble

LAYTON - Richard Brigham Marston, 87, passed away peacefully Mar. 13, 2002 at the home of his daughter.

Richard was born in Layton, Utah on April 26, 1914 to Carl Levi Marston and Laura Belle Young Marston. He grew up on a farm in West Layton and graduated from Davis High School. From there he went on to college at Weber State and in the autumn of 1935 he met Verona Frances Noble. They married in the Salt Lake Temple September 8, 1936. They subsequently had three children, Norman, Cynthia, and Brian. The family has since grown to include 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children.

Richard loved to learn, and earned a bachelors degree at Utah State University, a masters degree at Cal State (Berkeley), and finally a Ph.D in Water Quality Management at Utah State University.

He loved the outdoors and served his country honorably.

He was also a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including on the High Council of the first stake organized in Columbus Ohio and fulfilled a mission to San Jose, California with his beloved wife, Verona.

He was preceded in death by his father, his mother, his brother Thomas Keith Marston, his sister Doris Dawson, his son Norman Richard Marston and a great-granddaughter Amanda Gardner.

He is survived by his wife, Verona N. Marston, his daughter Cynthia (Ray) Gardner, his son, Brian (Sally) Marston and a daughter-in-law Connie Marston.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Layton 4th Ward, approximately 950 So. Flint Street (1450 Phillips Street), with Bishop Duncan Barlow, presiding. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
