Captain Jenkins perished when U.S. Air Force B-52D Stratofortress #55-0082 crashed into woods near Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, ten miles from Loring Air Force Base, Limestone, Maine, where the aircraft was based with the 42nd Bomb Wing.

He was the Aircraft Commander pilot.
