She was born to the late Rev. Elijah Monroe and Lula Clark Holland on March 19, 1911.
A lifetime native of Hall County, having lived in the Flowery Branch area all her life, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Egbert Bagby and her son, James Kenneth Bagby.
Kate graduated from Flowery Branch High School, Class of 1928.
She was a homemaker, and owned and operated a broiler grow out business with her husband. Mrs. Bagby and her husband were pioneers in the broiler business.
Mrs. Bagby was a lifetime member of Chattahoochee Baptist Church.
She served as Pianist, Sunday School Teacher and W.M.U. Director. Mrs. Bagby was active in civic organizations and school P.T.A.'s. She was a member of the Georgia Poultry Federation, Hall County Farm Bureau and the Gainesville Chapter of the A.A.R.P. She served as President of the Flowery Branch Federated Women's Club and was a member of the Flowery Branch Homemaker's Club.
Survivors include son, William Bagby and the late Georgia Lee Bagby of Flowery Branch; daughter & son-in-law, Mary and Carl Radford of Flowery Branch; daughter, Martha Scroggs and the late Ossie Scroggs of Oakwood; son & daughter-in-law, John & Suzanne Bagby of Flowery Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Joe & Marcia Bagby of Flowery Branch; eleven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Her favorite scriptures were John 3:16 and Psalm 23.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2012 in the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with entombment following at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Gainesville. The Rev. Carl Radford and Rev. Billy Compton will officiate. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Flowery Branch Homemakers Club.
