Cordelia Ann Read was the oldest daughter of Guilford and Elizabeth (Wallace) Read who moved as a family from Nashville in mid-January 1853.
Her eldest brother was William Benjamin Read b. 15 Oct 1829 d. 01 Oct 1904 who fought in the Civil War, was captured as one of Gen. John Hunt Morgan's men in Lexington, Indiana and served as a POW at Camps Morton (Indianapolis)and Douglas(Chicago). His first wife was, Margaret Amanda Morris, the mother of his three sons. She died 16 Dec 1864 Corydon, Indiana while he was a POW.
A sister of William and Cordelia Read was Martha Olive Read. She married a Yankee soldier named Samuel Davis Butler from Piqua, Ohio.
Guilford Dudley Read, a brother married Susan Ball Dalton. They had no children.
Harriet Adarene Read b. 12 Jan 1845 Nashville d. 12 May 1868 Gallatin unm.
The youngest sibling who survived through adulthood was journalist, author and humorist Opie Pope Read. He married Ada Lucinda Benham 30 Jun 1880 Texarkana, Miller Co. Arkansas. Their remains are interred at Oak Woods Cemetery on the south side of Chicago.
The remaining five Read siblings who died in childhood are buried at Nashville's City Cemetery.
